Nagarjun Sivakumar is my name and I was born on March 8, 2005. I currently reside in the country of Botswana, at Plot No. 1065, KO Kgale, Gaborone with my parents as both of them work as lecturers in Botswana local universities. At Gaborone International School in Gaborone, Botswana, I graduated in 2020 with an overall 91 percent on the Cambridge IGCSE test which is for senior high school graduates in Botswana.

There are many professions that make up society, with many professionals laboring to maintain society's balance; each professional is distinctive, as are their vocations, yet none have captivated me like medicine does. One of the rare developments in which doctors try to eradicate illnesses or conditions while exposing people to the same risk. For this reason, I decide to pursue a degree in medicine and excited to apply for your institution to study in China.

In my final two years of high school, I selected to major in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Biology is one of my favorite subjects, and I am well-versed in DNA, RNA, antibiotics, and immunology and eager to conduct extensive study. Peer students have benefited from my understanding of the above topics due to several presentations that I’ve done in my class. I'd like to study medicine and serve the community to the best of my ability since I'm interested in biology and chemistry. I was also encouraged and motivated to pursue medicine as a career since there are five (5) physicians in my family serving the nation.

Since I was in late primary school, I've been fascinated in medicine. When I was in 9th grade, I acquired dengue virus at the age of 12. I was worried since I was separated from my parents, who'd been working in another country, and had to rely on my grandparents for support. This is when I realized that, in addition to myself, I could rely on physicians and other healthcare providers. I was admitted to the hospital and remained bedridden for four days, witnessing firsthand the critical care offered by the physicians at all hours of the day and night. I had lost the virus's potency after I recovered from dengue fever, and, in turn my ambition to become a doctor grew even greater. I'd found my calling, no doubt about it.

My desire is to train as a physician and help people. The arrival of Covid-19 taught us a valuable lesson, we mourned our beloved friends and families our lives had been permanently displaced in a way or two at least. Doctors were risking their lives in jeopardy by working tirelessly to save people's lives, regardless of their own nor their families' wellbeing or comfort. This prompted me to aspire to be one of them and assist others.

After I had chosen my aim, the next question that sprang to me was where I should pursue it. I had a finite variety of choices, but China struck out as one of the most intriguing. The majority of China's medical colleges are among the world's top universities, with a reputation for being at the forefront of contemporary medicine together with the fact that MBBS is taught in English.

Considering China has a significant number of hospitals, there are several opportunities to serve and many people to help, for both internships and career prospects. Furthermore, studying in China would allow me to learn Chinese, which I believe would be a valuable addition to my skill set given that I am proficient in English, Tamil and a little French. China is a pioneer in medical technology development, and I am personally interested in technology since I have cybersecurity and handling complex hardware and software certifications. Since I was five years old, I've had a strong interest in and skill for the game of chess. In the Botswana 2014 youth games, I earned bronze in the under 12 division. Medicine is popularly known as an exhausting course to study involving lots of reading, thankfully since my childhood I’ve had an interest in reading books ranging from encyclopedias to novels which I consider a characteristic that would facilitate my pathway through the course.

After finishing my undergraduate studies in medicine, I want to pursue a postgraduate degree in physical medicine and rehabilitation. My parents and friends were shocked by my choice because it is not one of the most popular specialities. However, I had my reasons, I projected that many people would want the services of a physician specializing in rehabilitation as a result of the current pandemic, growth in drug and technology addiction among youth. All the above mentioned prompted me to start with studying medicine and I am confident that I can  perform very well in future.
