My name is Sevenur SARIKAYA. I was born in Ardahan, Turkey in 1998 as the last child of our family. We migrated to Istanbul in 2006. I am a researcher, innovative, practical solution-oriented, respectful, high level of empathy, friendly, hardworking person. I love to paint, research, explore, travel and work with new people. In my spare time, I attended content editor, effective communication strategies and body language, powerful branding strategies, diction training, first aid, Russian and oil painting training. I also participated in the painting exhibition held by Kılıçarslan Cultural Center with many of my paintings. I also voluntarily participated in the tree planting event with children at TEMA (Turkish Foundation for Combating Erosion, Afforestation, and Conservation of Natural Assets) and spent time with mentally handicapped children. I took part in the study on raising awareness for visually impaired individuals as well as supported many campaigns at Greenpeace.
I got enrolled at the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of Selçuk University in 2016 and graduated with the bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2020. During my study at Selçuk University, I did my internship for 1 year as a nutritionist at Selçuk University Hospital, Selçuk University Celiac Cuisine, Karatay Nakipoglu Health Center No. 01, Selçuk Community Health Center Immigrant Health Unit, Istanbul University Medical Faculty Hospital. Learned the treatment and patient approach by doing internship in departments such as Dialysis, Chest Diseases and Surgery, Urology, General Surgery, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Neurology, Ear nose and throat (ENT), Dermatology, Diabetes polyclinic, Obesity clinic, Pediatric metabolic diseases, I gained experience and knowledge in those fields. The internship and overall performance there gained me honor and high honor certificates from Selcuk University several times. Apart from that, I also voluntarily gave Nutrition training to the primary and middle classes and attended many courses related to my department and got a certificate. The trainings include but not limited to Nutrition and Psychology, Phytotherapy and Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, Bariatric Surgery, Sugar and its Effects on the Brain, Hygiene Training. In my last year at Selçuk University, I carried out a thesis study on the "Effect of Menstrual Period on Nutrition" and I presented my thesis as a poster at the 4th International Healthy Life Congress.
After graduation, I went to a local language organization to learn English for one year and also worked for several months. Now, I want to pursue my master’s degree in food science and engineering in China. The reason why I want to study further in China is that China is the second country that produces the most scientific articles in the world and is at the forefront of R&D. It has many universities that are in the best in university rankings around the world and its education is of high quality. Also, China has long history, it has rooted innumerable knowledge in chemistry, technology, phytotherapy, medicine, cosmetics and more. All these are of great importance to my department. Moreover, China's rich culture and lifestyle are worth exploring. I'm curious about China in every aspect and can’t wait to explore it.
After four years of undergraduate studies, I realized that doing my best at my job was more challenging than I had imagined, and sometimes I lost my motivation, but that was strengthened me even more. I also understood which area I needed to make progress in and that I needed more information. I evaluated my interest and relevance in all the courses I took during my undergraduate education, I took into account my abilities and thought about the researches and projects I want to do in the future. After taking all of these into consideration, I decided to study a master's in food science and engineering. By choosing this major, I am sure that it will benefit me a lot in my future career.
Finally I would like to express my sincere gratitute to LUCAS International-Study in China for getting me admission for Food Science and Engineering with full scholaship in SOUTHWEST UNIVERSITY, their professionalism, kindness and patience made me feel comfortable and confident especially Mr. Lucas, he kept offering assistance for my interview. Due to my weakness in English speaking, he kept practising with me again and again and encouraged me to be confident and relax.
